Solea Laser

Solea is an FDA-cleared CO2 laser system that performs procedures on both hard and soft tissues (teeth, bones).

As the laser operates at a 9.3-micron wavelength, it vaporizes tissue rather than cutting or grinding it, allowing minimally invasive treatments that often do not require anesthesia to be conducted.

The laser beam is directed across the treatment area using computer-controlled mirrors (galvos). Dentists can control cutting speed intuitively with a variable-speed foot pedal, adapting instantly to different tissue types and procedures. This sophisticated control system allows tissue to be removed accurately without damaging healthy tissues around it.

Anesthesia-Free Treatment

Most routine Solea procedures can be completed without injections. Many cavity preparations, soft tissue procedures, and other treatments can be performed without local anesthesia thanks to the laser's precision and unique wavelength. The patients are able to resume normal activities immediately after surgery without experiencing the discomfort associated with traditional anesthetic injections.

Clinical Applications

  • Hard Tissue Procedures: Cavity preparation, decay removal, enamel shaping, and tooth structure modification for restorations
  • Soft Tissue Surgery: Gum contouring, gingivectomies, frenectomies, crown lengthening, and cosmetic gum reshaping
  • Periodontal Treatment: Gum disease therapy, pocket decontamination, and tissue management
  • Lesion Removal: Excision of fibromas and benign oral lesions with minimal bleeding
  • Pediatric Applications: Gentle procedures suitable for children who benefit from reduced anxiety and needle-free treatment

Treatment Benefits

Solea procedures produce minimal bleeding due to the laser's cauterizing effect on soft tissue. This reduces post-operative discomfort, lowers infection risk, and accelerates healing. Patients can enjoy a more relaxing experience without vibrations or drilling noises.

Treatment times are typically 25 to 30 percent shorter than conventional methods. The procedure takes less time since there is no waiting for anesthesia to take effect. It is often possible to complete several procedures in one visit.

Because of the laser's accuracy, more healthy gum tissue and tooth structure can be preserved. With the computer-controlled delivery system, minimal collateral damage is caused to surrounding areas.

A Better Dental Experience

There are no drill sounds, vibrations, or pressures associated with traditional dental treatments. Most people report minimal discomfort during the procedure, which is quiet and gentle. Following treatment, there is no lingering numbness, allowing you to eat, drink, and speak as normal as soon as you finish the procedure.

Solea offers a fundamentally different approach to dental care for anxious patients, children, or anyone avoiding dental care due to fear of needles or drills.
